What are some good heavy/death metal/rock songs?

The music I listen to is getting a little boring and I’m trying to find some new stuff. Right now I’m listening to Killswitch Engage, Trivium, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, etc, etc.

Is it immature to like heavy metal when you’re 40?

I grew up listening to a lot of music, but the style that really fascinated me for whatever reason was heavy metal, especially thrash and death metal. I even picked up a guitar at 10 and continue playing today, and most people are surprised what I can pull off. But it seems like the older you get, certain things are increasingly expected of you. Like not really being into metal. I have a highly specialized career and I’m pretty sure none of my colleagues listen to metal…they’re pretty conservative. Should I care?

What hard rock can I let my 9 year old listen to?

My son is getting more interested in hard rock type music. Probably due in part to him skateboarding more. We went to the skate store and he wanted patches and stickers for his board and backpack. Most of the things are for bands. I told him I wouldn’t let him be a poseur and wear stuff for a band he doesn’t know. He likes old rock that I have had him listen to (AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.) and some newer alternative stuff (Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182), but there is an entire genre of hard rock that I would love him to be able to listen to, but can’t. Can anyone recommend some hard rock that is not totally inappropriate (ie. – no Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Slipknot, etc.)?
